The Story below, from the Chandigarh Spokesman, describes 16 year old Patiala student and resident Jagvinder Singh. Singh is a student at Victoria Public Senior Secondary School and the eldest of five siblings. Singh was born without one arm while the other arm is very small. While his parents began to worry about his future as he grew up, Jagvinder Singh began using pastels and other tools to make beautiful drawings using only his feet. With the support of his parents, he has now become very talented in this hobby.
Jagvinder Singh’s father Sukhdev Singh, who accompanies him to all art competitions, says that Jagvinder Singh has competed in dozens of such contests and always wins a top prize. According to Sukhdev Singh, their family owns a fabric store which supports the family expenses. However, they have never spared any expense for Jagvinder Singh’s artistic talent.
