BC SIKH YOUTH PRESENTS

JUNE 1984…NEVER FORGET

Memorial Event

BC Sikh Youth is proud to announce that the JUNE 1984…NEVER FORGET Memorial Event (Candle Light Vigil) will take place on Saturday June 3rd at 5:30pm at the Vancouver Art Gallery. In June 1984, the Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Sri Darbar Sahib complex was attacked by the Indian Government in an attempt to silence the Sikh Human Rights movement. In a cowardly act, the Indian Government attacked while Sikhs were celebrating the martyrdom the fifth Guru, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s. This heinous attack killed tens of thousands innocent men, women and children and left millions others physically and emotionally scared for life.

We must not forget the atrocities and genocide committed by the Indian Government against the Sikh Nation. We must not forget great heroes Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale, Shaheed Bhai Amrik Singh, Shaheed General Subeg Singh and the countless other men and women who defended the Sikh Nation against the oppressive Indian Government. We must not forget that human rights violations against minorities still continue to this day in the so called ‘largest democracy’ in the world. JUNE 1984…NEVER FORGET.

The Sikh youth of BC invite the entire Sikh community to come join in this memorial event and make it known to the world that the Sikh Nation will never forget the day the Indian Government invaded our most sacred shrine Sri Darbar Sahib and destroyed the Sri Akal Takhat Sahib. The event will feature Sikh Youth from across the globes who have continued to speak out about Human Rights Violations in India.
