Why don't you believe it? This is self-reported. Even if it is not 25.6%, what if it is really 10% or what if it is 40%, what are we doing about it? Why can't men even face it? Why are we running away from the problem? Unfortunately we don't have many 'Sikh men' willing to help find solutions and tackle this problem that in our community. Too often we have 'normal guys' that only want to run away from the problem.

Sat Sri Akal,

Perphaps I've got blinders on and don't see the reality, but I don't believe the Sexual Abuse among Sikh Women is 25.6%. Bull[edited]!

Are you says that 1 in 4 Sikh girl has been raped or sexually molested by her father, mama, chacha, taya, or some other close relative. Don't beleive it. No Ways.

If you were talking physical abuse (getting slapped, or some other physical disciplinary action) I would certainly agree. Even if it was 100%, I wouldn't argue. But sexual abuse - NO WAY!

I misunderstood your point nimana. Your first post seemed much more against women. Thank you for clarifying.

What I mean to say is when 1/4 of women say "yes I have been abused" maybe there is 1/4 more who also have been abused but did not answer truthfully in the survey. What I mean is there is a crisis, yes.

Also the problem is on both sides - for partners. Many people who call themselves Sikhs are actually extremely superficial and self-absorbed, and they are not looking for a Sikh partner, but a fashion-slave patit partner, this is true for large groups of both so-called Sikh males and females.

Do the 'Sikh' men want strong Sikh women or more than likely they want some mix between a model and one that will bend to theirs and their family's every wishes? Notice that everytime Sikh women try to have a voice, Sikh men must make themselves the focus. Unfortunately you are right nimana, maybe the percentages are low, but 25% is already extremely high!! This is a crisis and this survey reveals it!!

When Sikh women say they want to marry a Sikh man - do they think a clean-shaven alcohol-drinking person is a Sikh man? When a quarter of Sikh women say that have been victims of abuse - are several others witholding their abuse history even in an anonymous survey?
