The Sikh youth of BC collectively will commemorate the following events with Akhand Jaaps:
Feb 19 – 85th Anniversary of Saka Nankana Sahib (at the Guru Nanak Academy)
June 17 – 400th Shaheedi Purab of Guru Arjan Dev Sahib Ji
October 07 – 500th Janam Divas of Baba Buddha Ji

As the previous years, there will be two smagams hosted by Akhand Kirtani Jatha this year: the main international smagam will be in the long weekend of May, and the winter Shaheedi smagam will be in the second-to-last week of December. As always, the main (and maybe the winter) smagam will have an amrit sanchaar and rainsabhaee keertan. Details will be available at www.akjbc.ca
There will also be two SadhSangat smagams this year, most likely at Gudwara Sahib Sukh Sagar: Each smagam will be four days long. The first smagam will be during Vaisakhi celebrations, from April 13 to 16, and the second will be from October 6 to 9. Details on smagams will be posted at www.samagams.org
In addition, the second annual Barsi Smagam in memory of Bhai Parminder Singh Ji, Bhai Charnjit Singh Ji, and Bibi Rena Kaur Ji, will take place on the weekend of May 6 / 7. Location and details will be announced at www.gurmatstudies.com
The second annual Barsi smagam in memory of Sant Baba Thakur Singh Ji will take place in the end of December, near the 26th. Details on the smagam will be posted at www.gurunanakacademy.com
In July, the Guru Nanak Academy will host a gurmat camp, for five days, for Sikh youth, dedicated in honour of the 350th Prakash Divas of Guru Harkrishan Ji. There will be a special keertan darbar on Wednesday, July 26, with special guests Bibi Snatam Kaur Ji and jatha. Details will be posted at www.gurunanakacademy.com
In August, the West Coast Sikh Youth Alliance will host their 12th annual Sikh youth summer camp in Kelowna BC. Details will be posted at www.wcsya.org
Also in August, the Yoga West / 3HO Foundation will host their annual Khalsa Ladies Camp on the Sunshine Coast in BC. Details will be posted at www.khalsaladiescamp.com
Now in their second year, Kaurs United will host their annual Sikh youth womens camp in Vancouver and the date is to be announced. Details will be posted at www.kaursunited.org
