UPCOMING EVENTS…
As many of you know, the UBC SSA’s ANNUAL CONFERENCE is fast approaching.Every January, the SSA organizes a conference to bring together Sikh youth from around the Lower Mainland. This year the conference is being held on SUNDAY, JANUARY the 15th. It’s with great excitement that we’re launching a new format this year. Instead of the regular speaker routine, we’re experimenting with a workshop format, one that will allow those who attend the conference to personally experience the different aspects of being a Sikh. There will be an introduction to a) Gatka, the Sikh martial art, b) Meditation, in order to experience the spiritual side of Sikhi, and lastly c) a discussion forum to air our concerns and questions on what it means to be a Sikh youth in the west. Registration for attending the conference is required. In order to register, e-mail back to sikhiunleashed@yahoo.ca with your name, age and gender and we hope to see as many UBC SSA members as possible in attendance.
The conference is just around the corner as you can see and there is still much that needs to be done so the SSA will be holding a meeting this Friday January the 6th in GAGE at 12pm. If you are interested in anyway in helping out, but are unable to attend the meeting, please e-mail us if are interested in either set-up or clean-up the day of the conference. That is only one topic to be discussed at the meeting , so for more information on what needs to be done please attend the meeting.
GATKA classes will be starting up again next WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 11TH from 5pm to 7pm in GAGE. Please come prepared for a work-out!
DISCUSSIONS will be starting up next week as well on THURSDAY, JANUARY 12TH at 12:30pm.
Furthermore, soon to come is weekly REHRAAS AND SIMRANS so continue checking your e-mails for more information.
