Prakash Divas - Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Sahib Ji
November 4th, 2006 by adminCongratulations to all of the Khalsa Panth on the celebrations of the Prakash Divas of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Sahib Ji Maharaj.
Sunday, November 5th is the Sikh community’s annual celebration of the Prakash Divas of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Sahib Ji Maharaj, the perfect primal divine soul from which Akaal Purakh Vaaheguroo started the divine legend that is the Sikh panth on this earth. In actuality, the Prakash of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Sahib Ji Maharaj took place on the first day of the month of Vaisakhi (Vaisakhi Day), but it is celebrated in the Sikh calendar in the month of November.
In celebration of this auspicious event, there will be many special programs taking place all throughout British Columbia. However, one special event being organized by the youth is on Saturday, November 11th - the annual Youth-Led Kirtan Darbar. This kirtan darbar is fully organized by the youth, and all different youth groups and jathas participate in kirtan from 6pm to 12am during this event. Sometimes there are so many participants that the event goes well past 12am. You can view photos and listen to audio from past Youth-Led Kirtan Darbars in the BC Sikh Youth Multimedia gallery.
