The official margin of victory between each respective candidate of the panthic vs. anti-panthic slate varied from 63 votes to 100 votes.

“Sevak Ko Seva Ban Aaee”

Guru Maharaj says the real sevadaar, who does seva in the love of Akaal Purakh, feels that the reward of seva is more seva. So it was no surprise that when asked to speak, the sevadaars newly elected for the gurdwara sahib committee only expressed their gratitude and praise for Akaal Purakh, and their desire to serve the Sikh community with upmost honesty, integrity, and loyalty to the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Bhai Bikramjit Singh Sandher, who will serve as Vice President, praised the efforts of the many gursikhs who committed countless hours of hardwork and dedication, working in unity with many youth groups, jathebandis, gurdwara committees, and general sangat from across BC The Gurdwara Sahib elections, which were held all day yesterday (Sept 10), had a relatively peaceful, coordinated, and positive atmosphere. Throughout the day, Sikh sangat voted in voting centres at New Westminster, Abbotsford, and Surrey, which had the largest turnout and number of registered voters.

After the ardaas and speeches were conducted into midnight Monday, many of the attending youth showed faces of relief, and chardee kalaa, and expressed their hopes that with the appointment of a “Youth Slate,” this gurdwara sahib will be a gathering place for all of the BC Sikh youth and provide resources for the Sikh youth to learn, engage, inspire, and be spiritually enlightened. Also, with the grace of Guru Maharaj, this gurdwara sahib will now serve as a resouce to reach out to many of those youth who have gone on a wrong path, choosing drugs, alcohol, gangs, and violence over a righteous lifestyle.
