Vaheguru Vaheguru Vaheguru Vaheguru Vaheguru

Sadhsangat ji, please pray for the soul of Navreet Waraich and her unborn child. It was not discussed but like Manjit Panghali, Navreet was also pregnant.

The funeral services took place on November 12th at Five Rivers Funeral Home. Please leave your comments below.

Police are investigating the stabbing murder of 27 year old Navreet Kaur Waraich by her husband Jatinder, a Richmond taxi driver. Police say Navreet, the mother of a baby boy, had only been in Canada a few years and was a victim of domestic violence. Her cousin said on CityTV, “they were always fighting, but she did not want to tell us because she did not want to create fights with her husband.” Police received a call from a house at 70th Avenue and 123rd street in Surrey on Sunday afternoon after Navreet, who lived in the basement with her husband and child, had been screaming as a result of suffering multiple stab wounds. She later died in hospital. One neighbour said, “at first we thought she was crying but then we heard screaming” and somebody went inside. Navreet’s father, Dilbag Singh Gill, from Amritsar, was interviewed today on Radio India 1600AM. Her family members want to come from India to take care of Navreet’s infant son, who is currently in the care of Child Protection Services.
This is all after last week, Manjit Kaur Panghali was murdered along with her unborn child.

And the week before that, Gurjeet Kaur Ghuman, who is still in very serious condition in hospital, suffered an attempted murder attack by her husband, who killed himself immediately afterwards.

What is happening in our community… why are our daughters, our mothers, our sisters being attacked or killed?

Radio India’s Harpreet Singh announced today that they will be hosting a public forum about this issue in the next week, as they received over 100 calls today at their radio station from women exclaiming that this is a very serious issue in our community. Why are we all asleep… we must wake up and save our mothers!

UPDATE: Please note the post above about the Community Forum. It is on Thursday at 7pm at Bombay Banquet Hall.
