Khalsa School Surrey weightlifting club stands out provincially and nationally

The Khalsa School Surrey weightlifting club recently showed that it was a force to be reckoned with both provincially and nationally.
Last month they won the A&R Memorial BC weightlifting championship held at Port Alberni on February 4. Hariender Mahey and Prabdeep Sanghera were declared the best BC juvenile weightlifters from the boys and girls sections respectively. Other weightlifters who won medals in different weight categories:
Boy’s section: Palvider Sandhu, Hariender Mahey, Harvey Sahota, Onkar Sandhu and Aman Nagra, all gold; Harnek Sanghera, silver; Amrinder Sahota, Dave Powar, Herman Sahota, and Gatinder Mahey, all bronze.
Girls section: Prabdeep Sanghera, Ayodeji Anike, and Nwatu Ijeoma, all gold; Snimerdeep Sanghera and Sofia Sandhu, both silver. Back in January, six weightlifters from Khalsa Weightlifting Club, Surrey, participated in the Junior National Weightlifting Championship held in Ottawa. In this championship participants from all over Canada who were under the age of 20 year took part in various weight categories. Joke Adekola from Khalsa Weightlifting club won the gold and was declared best junior weightlifter in Canada. Prabdeep Sanghera, who is just 12 years old and a student of George Greenaway Elementary School, Cloverdale, surprised everyone by winning a silver medal in the national championship. Other weightlifters from BC who won medals were Kaylee Hansen, Emma MacCorquodale and Katelynn William, all silver, and Nickita William, James Hussen and Amrinder Sahota, all bronze, in the clean and jerk event.
Weight Lifting Coach Makhan Sandhu said that the BC women team won second place, with and Quebec team taking first place.
