‘Illuminations’ book launched
December 9th, 2006 by adminMark L.Tompkins and Jennifer McMahon’s book, Illuminations, was launched on Nov.20 at Vancouver Public Library amidst an Interfaith event.
This remarkable book contains an erudite and visually fascinating collection of photographs, splendid art-pieces, enlightening poems and invaluable interview-excerpts of 180 artists, writers and spiritual leaders of 43 countries of the world.
The intent of this book is to further the understanding of and respect for the religious traditions and, above all, spiritual paths of the world. It highlights the need of inter-faith dialogue to promote harmony of faiths. It is a lustrous blend of
art and spirituality.
“Illuminations” features the messages of Noble Laureate Desmond Tutu, peace activist Fatima Gailani, Reverend Tamara Siuda, spiritual leader Shanti Mayi and best selling authors Julia Cameron and Marianne Williamson.
This book celebrates the diversity of cultural traditions, religious beliefs and fosters human values-especially love, compassion and sense of belonging.
Most importantly, Illuminations provides enormous inspiring and illuminating experiences of the peacelovers of the world that counteracts the growing fanaticism on this earth. After releasing the book a panel discussion based upon the theme- “How do we develop empathy for people of other spiritual paths” was scheduled in which spiritual leaders - Acharya S.P.Dwivedi, Tony DuMoulin, Victor Chan, Bishop Michael Ingham, Mohammad Rashid, Bhupinder Singh and Nafees Shams, of Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and Sikhism presented views from their perspective respectively.
