TUNE IN TO AMRIT BANI & SHARE-PUNJAB 1550 AM ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8th TO SUPPORT WESTERN SINGH SABHA, WILLIAMS LAKE, BC

Vaaheguru Jee Kaa Khalsaa, Vaaheguru Jee Kee Fateh!

As many of you may recall, in March 2006 the Western Singh Sabha Gurdwara of Williams Lake, BC was deliberately set on fire by a local arsonist. The damage to the Gurdwara Sahib was extensive and the community is slowly rebuilding. The damage was estimated at $1 million dollars. The gurdwara was not fully insured for the replacement cost; therefore, the insurance company is only covering 75% of the cost ($750,000). The Williams Lake Sikh community must fundraise for the remaining $250,000. To date, $50,000 has been collected.

One of the projects the gurdwara is involved with is a radio program titled “Sikhe Virsa” which covers various subjects on a weekly basis. For the past year because of the generosity of the Satnam Education Society (Khalsa School, Surrey, BC), the program has been broadcast on Amrit Bani radio on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday October 8th is the 2nd anniversary of the radio program. In celebration of the anniversary, there will be a special LIVE program broadcast from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time). In the East, this program will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The anniversary show will be dedicated to fundraising for rebuilding the Williams Lake Western Singh Sabha Gurdwara Sahib. Amrit Bani radio will be relaying the program LIVE throughout North America and SHARE-PUNJAB on 1550 AM will also be broadcasting it in Vancouver at the same time. PLEASE call in to show your support for the Sikh community in Williams Lake, BC and to make on-air donations. The sangat hopes to raise $200,000 in order to complete the renovations for the Gurdwara Sahib. The number to call into the show is 1-250-398-7277. Please tune in to listen to the live program, and even if you do not have access to the radio stations the program is being broadcast on, please call in to offer your support and donations.

The sangat of Western Singh Sabha Gurdwara of Williams Lake, BC would like to thank those who have shown their support to date and hopes to hear from you on Sunday, October 8th.
