Diversity Summit - Application Deadline
September 14th, 2006 by adminThe Canadian Broadcasting Corporation today announced that applications are being accepted for 10 CBC delegate scholarships to attend the Innoversity Summit in Toronto, October 23-24, 2006, at the Marriott Hotel. The CBC scholarships will give preference to applicants from British Columbia and the Maritimes. The Innoversity Summit is Canada’s premier event focusing on cultural diversity in Canadian media. Innoversity provides opportunities for people working, studying and/or pursuing careers in broadcasting, film and related industries with an opportunity to showcase work, establish professional relationships, attend development workshops, gain mentors and compete for development contracts. The CBC delegate scholarships will cover airfare, accommodations, conference registration and a modest per diem. Scholarship recipients must attend the two-day summit and afterwards submit a short written report on their experience. Preference is being given to applicants who are members of visible minority groups, Aboriginal Peoples and/or persons with disabilities. Preference will also be given to independent media creators, content creators or producers. CBC employees and their relatives and recipients of the 2005 scholarships are not eligible. Applications, including four (4) copies of each of the following, must be submitted to Innoversity (address below) by Friday, September 15:
Cover letter, introducing the applicant and why s/he should be considered;
A resume focused on applicant’s media ambitions, career accomplishments, skills and knowledge; A plan outlining how s/he will use the summit to further his/her career; Demonstrated financial need; Other relevant information that may help a jury make its selection. Mail application to:
