The Delta Police Department, in conjunction with its community partners, is committed to making this community a safer place by educating the public about the dangers of Methamphetamine use and the problems related to its use. Topics covered will include, but aren’t limited to: What is Methamphetamine? Short and long-term effects of using the drug. Drug-related crime; programs aimed at educating youth; signs of Meth use that parents and teachers to be aware of; clandestine lab indicators for the general public; precursors used in the production, business owners be aware; treatment resources.
The police department is taking a proactive stance with respect to Methamphetamines and wants to start by educating the community as a whole before we see any serious impact from Meth use here in Delta. Youth and their parents, teachers, business owners, Delta and other area residents are all welcome and encouraged to attend. Come early in order to view displays setup by our community partners that have important information to impart about Methamphetamine.
The forums themselves will consist of several engaging and informative speakers which include: Dr. Bruce Campana, an emergency room physician at Vancouver General Hospital; Wayne Jeffrey, Forensic Toxicologist; Terry Smith, Coroner; Sgt. Darryl Tottenham, New Westminster Police Service.
