SOUTH ASIAN WOMEN & PSYCHOTHERAPY
Dr. Jaswant Guzder
Intercultural Psychiatry, McGill University
Dr. Guzder’s research sheds light on the treatment issues
that need to be taken into consideration when working with
South Asian women in therapeutic settings. Her research has
been published in Archives of Psychiatry, Transcultural
Psychiatry, and Canadian Journal of Psychiatry.

THE CONFLICT BETWEEN TRADITION & MODERNITY
Dr. Kamala Nayar
South Asian Studies, Kwantlen University College
Dr. Nayar’s research involves examining the psychosocial
issues that South Asian women endure as a result of trying
to “mediate” between the values and beliefs of two
disparate cultures. She is the author of the book “The
Sikh Diaspora in Vancouver: The three generations amid
tradition, modernity, and multiculturalism” published by
the University of Toronto Press.
