Aagman Purab of Shaheed Baba Gurbakhsh Singh “Banda Singh Bahadur”
October 27th, 2006 by adminVaheguru ji ka khalsa,
Vaheguru ji ki fatheh!
According to “On This Day” records from Fort: Panth Khalsa website, legendary and revolutionary Sikh leader, general, and martyr, Baba Gurbakhsh Singh, also known as “Banda Singh Bahadur,” came to this earth on this day - October 27th, in 1670.

Baba Jee’s life story is full of heroism, inspiration, devotion, sacrifice, and high spirits. After giving his self in sacrifice to the Guru, Baba jee was personally blessed by Dhan Dhan Maharaj Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib jee with the support of five Singhs and celestial weapons, the gift of khande-ke-pahul, and the direction to bring justice to the tyrants of the moghul empire, who had ruthlessly murdered the younger Sahibzadas and Dhan Dhan Jagat Mata Gujjar Kaur jee.
Baba jee’s revolutionary battles against the moghul forces lead to the first foundations of political reign of the Khalsa army. Baba jee’s battles and actions each were classic examples of courage, faith, and spiritual strength.
Baba jee, as well as his wife and son, became shaheed at the hands of the tyrant moghuls, but not before leaving an indelible legacy that would inspire all future generations of Sikhs to never waver in the fight for righteousness, faith, and truth. Congratulations to all of the Khalsa panth on the Aagman Purab of this great Sikh hero, Shaheed Baba Gurbakhsh Singh Jee “Banda Singh Bahadur.”

The above was just a small, inadequate summary. For a real educational and emotional experience, you must watch The Rise of Khalsa, the animated film released in 2006 by Vismaad Productions.
Also read the biography of Baba jee by world renowned historian and professor of Sikhism, Bhai Ganda Singh jee. The book is called: “Life of Banda Singh Bahadur: Based on Contemporary and Original Records.” It includes a lot of reliable sources and is probably the most accurate book available about Baba jee.
Lastly, you can view the links below for great descriptions of the outstanding jeevan of Baba jee.
