Akal Takht Honours BC’s Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains

The untiring and remarkable efforts by Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains of B.C. to introduce and preach the Sikh religion and its philosophy to the world through multimedia technology landed the distinguished scholar yet another honour when on behalf of highest institution of the Sikh Commonwealth, Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti, Jathedar of the Sri Akal Takhat Sahib bestowed on him the title of “Sikh Scholar of Computer Age” on January 10 at the Sri Akal Takht Sahib in Amritsar, Punjab.

The title was conferred on the basis of Dr. Bains’s distinguished contribution in the field of computer and IT that he used in spreading the universal Sikh tenets and fostering better understanding of the Sikh faith among people around the globe practicing divergent faiths. The citation (Farmaan) was pronounced by the Jathedar from the highest spiritual-temporal Sikh Takht.

The title carries a silver memento, a gold medal, Dushala and a citation letter appreciating the distinguished services of Dr. Bains. Dozens of organizations from USA, Canada, England and India presented “Saropas.”

The Jathedar praised the outstanding contribution of Dr. Bains for attributing and spreading Gurmat philosophy by using the latest multimedia and IT.

“During the growth of computer technology, such innovative and visionary people are an asset not only to the Sikh society but to the entire human race,” he said. “We welcome and recognize the gesture of distinction and his dedication towards spreading the Sikh tenets through multimedia technology that merit as a fruitful member of the Sikh commonwealth in the world. The Khalsa Panth needs relentless efforts of others like that of Raghbir Singh in this direction to broaden the understanding of the golden principles of Sikh religion in the world.”
