About BCSikhYouth.com

During May of 2003, Bhai Parminder Singh Ji organized a meeting with the Sikh youth representatives of Sikh Vision, West Coast Sikh Youth Alliance, SFU SSA, UBC SSA, Guru Nanak Spiritual Resource Centre, Akhand Kirtani Jatha, Khalsa School, Gurmat Studies Foundation, Gurmat Center, Shan-E-Khalsa, and other youth groups and Gurdwara Sahibs in BC.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss concerns of miscommunication, disunity, and apathy amongst the youth. Many youth were falling away from Sikhi and going towards negative influences. Bhai Sahib wanted all of the groups to give their unique strengths to a working partnership that would re-connect the youth with Sikhi and promote unity within the BC Sikh community. He was not interested in a new group or new organization, but a revolutionary movement of gurmat and ektha.

A year later, while travelling to do seva of the Panth, Bhai Parminder Singh Ji, along with Bhai Charnjit Singh Ji and Bibi Rena Kaur Ji, left the BC Sangat and this worldly stage for a higher spiritual realm. Since then, around the world many events have taken place and many Gursikhs have also left the Earth, leaving a lasting impression on the youth and creating a wake-up call in the Sikh community. With every new khande-ke-pahul abhilakhee, with every new Sikhi academy, with every new keertani and kathavachak, that revolution comes closer.

This site and mailing list has served as a resource and a working project to honour the legacies of the countless Sikh youth of the past, present and future who have inspired and uplifted their fellow Gursikhs.BC Sikh Youth is not a seperate organization but a collective voice of all of the Sikh youth organizations, non-profit Sikh organizations, Gurdwaras, and Sikh societies in British Columbia. The BC Sikh Youth website is run by the BC Sikh Community and with the grace and blessings of the Khalsa Panth and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
For our limits and shortcomings, we humbly beg the sangat and Guru for their mercy and forgiveness. Please forgive our mistakes. We hope to better serve the Sikh youth and Sikh community of BC in the future and be a more interactive and beneficial resource.
