Welcome to the website for the City of Vancouver’s Civic Youth Strategy (CYS). Your gracious site hosts are the three charming members of the Youth Outreach Team (YOT), the human face of the CYS. Our job as Youth Outreach Team members is to help find ways for the youth of Vancouver to share their expertise with City staff who share our goals - to make Vancouver an environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable city that cherishes, nurtures, welcomes, and celebrates people of all ages and backgrounds. We hope you enjoy the website, and will contribute your feedback. Have questions, comments, concerns, ideas, or suggestions? Please don’t hesitate to contact us as we are here to work with you to make the City a better place for youth!
We have a certain set of values that guide our approach. We believe that:
- all citizens (particularly youth!) have something to contribute
- building relationships is a powerful tool for social change
- partnerships and collaboration lead to better, stronger programs
- involving youth experientially through community-based projects is a meaningful way of engaging youth
- building a strong foundation for youth involvement now, means a legacy of youth involvement later
We hope you enjoy the website, and will contribute your feedback. Have questions, comments, concerns, ideas, or suggestions? Please don’t hesitate to contact us as we are here to work with you to make the City a better place for youth!
