With guru ji’s kirpa this website, www.BCSikhYouth.com, has been up for one year. It was launched on August 9, 2004. The e-mail group is more than two years old. It was launched on June 24, 2003 so that the few people in the coalition of BC sikh youth groups could keep in touch. From that meeting the BCSikhYouth program was created, which has now transformed over the years into the English kathas on Sundays at Gurdwara Sahib Dasmesh Darbar. Some gursikhs also organized BCSikhYouth keertans and rainsabhaees - one of these was at Khalsa School and the pictures are still up at www.Sikhs.ca.
We’re not sure what the newsletter or website has accomplished - that is something you can tell us. If it is helpful for you, useful, etc. However we know there are a lot of things we haven’t yet accomplished and still hope to do in the future with Guru ji’s kirpa. Some of the goals are as follows:
- Finish the community directory
- Set up a job and seva posting forum that is easy to use
- Promote this website at gurdwaras all over BC
- Post personal stories of Sikh youth in BC
- Have more keertans, rainsabhaees, and Sikhi-related programs
- Have charity events, like soup kitchens, and toy drives
- Make a user-friendly and comprehensive Sikh youth events calendar (rather than our current empty one!)
- Become worthy of this seva by staying away from vikaars and practicing Sikhi
- Become worthy of this seva by staying away from vikaars and practicing Sikhi
Please give your blessings and do ardas for the chardee kalaa of the panth,
