If you are, or somebody you know is, a new immigrant youth over age 17 who needs English language services, check this out:

Free English Language Services for Adults
Who can take ELSA classes?
You must be a permanent resident who has note yet completed LINC or ELSA
You must be 17 years old or older
How much do the classes cost?
The classes are free and funded by the Canadian and British Columbian governments.
What will I learn?
English speaking, listening, writing, and living in Canada.
Class Schedule
Morning Classes: Monday/ Tuesday/Thursday/Friday
9AM- 12PM
Evening Classes: Monday/Tuesday/Thursday
6:30PM- 9:30PM
Classes begin September 12, 2005 and end June 9, 2006. Classes are closed holidays and Christmas and Spring Breaks.
How do I apply for ELSA?
1. Bring your permanent resident or citizen card to Gladwin Language Centre to register.
2. After you register, the testing centre will schedule an assessment for you. The test will be at Gladwin Language Centre. You must have this test before you begin classes.
3. A letter will come to you telling you when your test appointment is. Tests are in the AM.
4. After your test you may have to wait to start a class. Each month new students begin.
