Best Wishes for a Great New Year
December 30th, 2005 by adminIk Oankaar Sat Gurprasaad
Vaheguru ji ka khalsa,
Vaheguru ji ki fatheh!

Khalsa jee,
Throughout all of the trials and tribulations, successes and failures, great accomplishments and silly mistakes, our father Dhan Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji and our mother Dhan Dhan Mata Sahib Kaur Ji have been at our side and offered their continuous support, not just in 2005, but throughout our lives.
Now we are near January 1st, 2006 - it is just another day, but it is also an excuse to forgive, to reconcile, to make ammends, to rejoice, to come together and renounce duality. It is an excuse to renew our goals, and to give our minds encouragement to take steps for positive changes in our lives. These are things we can and should do every day, but if our mind is a wild animal, with no controls, why not use tomorrow as the leash to bring it into control. Why not do an ardas tomorrow - in front of Guru ji - to request Guru ji’s help to make changes in our personal lives?
Lets not waste the 31st of December, tomorrow, with attending a party or social dinner. There are far too many keertan programs happening in homes and gurdwaras with hours of beautiful keertan and simran that it would be really foolish to waste tomorrow on drinking alcohol, dancing to vulgar songs, and entering a new year with negative old habits.
Let us all pray to Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji for the blessings of Sikhi, kes, rehit, bibek, support, faith, chardee kalaa, unity, and most importantly, naam. Let us pray to Guru ji to keep us away from kaam, krodh, lobh, moh, ahankaar, and to help us avoid slandering, gossip, jealousy, betrayal, duality, grudges, and laziness in our spiritual practice.
With Guru ji’s kirpa we are happy to announce that the Sikh youth of BC has set the dates for the three Akhand Jaaps of 2006. We will be sending out a nationwide press release in the first week of January to all of the mailing lists, media groups, and Sikh sangats, with the specific dates. The three Akhand Jaaps will be to commemorate the 85th Anniversary of Saka Nankana Sahib, the 400th Shaheedi Divas of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Arjan Dev Sahib ji (and the 400th Gurgadhi Divas of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji), and the 500th Janam Din of Dhan Dhan Baba Buddha Ji.
Please continue to send your upcoming events announcements to sikhyouth@shaw.ca. Wishing you and your family all of the blessings and protection of Guru ji in the year 2006.

Vaheguru ji ka khalsa,
Vaheguru ji ki fatheh!
Since May, 2003, the Sikh youth of BC have worked together as a coalition of all of the Sikh youth camps, gurmat schools, and non-profit organizations in British Columbia, to inspire the Sikh youth and unite them in the teachings of gurbani and gurmat. We need sevadaars to help grow the BCSikhYouth website and provide content for the upcoming keertan and photo sections. Please e-mail us at sikhyouth@shaw.ca if you are interested in doing seva with the Sikh youth of BC and if you would be interested in being a Sikh youth ambassador for your city in BC. This is not an individual organization or jatha, but a united voice of the BC Sikh sangat.
You may be receiving this e-mail as a forward. If you are not subscribed to the BCSikhYouth mailing list please send a blank e-mail to bcsikhyouth-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. Please forward this e-mail to all of your sangat.
