AKHANDJAAP
November 20th, 2005 by admin
Vaheguru ji ka khalsa,
Vaheguru ji ki fatheh!
With Guru ji’s kirpa the Akhand Jaap was absolutely amazing. Sangat took the ferry, the car, the airplane, or walked, from local areas, and from as far as Seattle, Victoria, Nanaimo, Calgary, and Edmonton ! It was an awesome experience with all jathas, sangats, gurdwaras, and youth groups participating. The Guru Nanak Academy sevadaars had renovated the entire entry area of the Academy specially in time for the Akhand Jaap. They were up late the night before the Akhand Jaap busy in preperations. Guru Sahib’s takhat looked very beautiful and the lighting in the darbar sahib was very well done. The nitnem, simran, and keertan were very powerful and all of the sangat from local cities and out-of-town were very pleased to attend this special event. The sangat did special ardaas for Guru ji’s kirpa to live up to the legacy of the amazing gursikh shaheeds of November, 1984, who without any wrongdoing were targetted and attacked in government-sponsored pogroms and riots. The youth were inspired and encouraged to meet each other and see various groups mixing as one united Sikh community. The langar and snacks were delicious and prepared with lots of pyaar. There were even sarbloh bibeki snacks available and the sangat participated in lots of seva throughout the day. Next Akhand Jaap there might be a bus of sangat coming from Calgary, as well as more sangat from nearby cities, states and provinces. In addition by that time hopefully the sangat will donate to the Guru Nanak Academy (*please donate your dasvandh to the Academy*), allowing them to make more renovations, especially to the darbar sahib in the back. The work the Academy does on a regular basis, inspiring and educating the youth in Gurmat and Gursikhi, is priceless. With guru ji’s kirpa the Akhand Jaap was an outstanding event and hopefully Guru Sahib will continue to bless the Sikh youth of BC and allowing more Akhand Jaaps in the future. Pictures and audio will be posted at www.AkhandJaap.com - look out for that in the coming days.
